My name is Chas, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor based in the greater Chattanooga area. I am here to provide you with a safe, nurturing, and confidential environment to explore, understand, and navigate the life experiences that landed you here. This website is curated for you to gain as much, or as little needed to gather information about me as a clinician and expectations moving forward. Some of us feel more comfortable when we have more information, while others prefer to just jump in and see where it goes. In either case, Welcome.
My Specialties: As a Certified Trauma Counselor, I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced circumstances in life that have impacted them in ways that far exceed the time and space where those things happened.
So often trauma is thought of as either a solitary event where severe physical harm was done, or perhaps the word "trauma" has been overused and has become synonymous with pop culture rather than the damaging circumstances that shape brain chemistry and rewire nervous systems.
What we all recognize is the struggle in relationships and patterns in life that seem to always return regardless of temporary circumstances.
Through the use of Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Experiencing, we can explore the life experiences that have shaped the communication, perspectives, behaviors and values that make up, you. Using tools that offer support and insight into the 'why' provides insightful internal resources that empower us to live a life that aligns with our true Self.
For those who have trauma or stories that feel 'stuck' without freedom of the pain and paralyzing effects, I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Neurofeedback to help clients unlock their innate capacity for self-healing and growth. Regardless of the degree of life's challenges, they've happened in our bodies and our nervous systems are impacted. Throughout the years of training and work I've done in this area, I've found that talk therapy is incredibly meaningful and helpful, but limited in reach. I feel incredibly grateful to have access to modalities that support the whole person without a one size fits all approach. For couples, I am trained in the Gottman Method, a scientifically grounded and effective approach, to improve relationship satisfaction, deepen understanding and connection, and manage conflicts productively. My goal is to facilitate a deeper understanding between partners, promoting empathy, compassion, and unified growth.
My Approach: I believe in the power of connection and the human capacity for change. It's my privilege to walk with you through your unique journey, helping you to uncover your strengths, develop new coping strategies, and navigate life's challenges.
My philosophy is that every client is unique and, therefore, deserves a tailored approach that fits their specific needs. I am committed to understanding you and your experiences at a deep level, allowing for a therapeutic process that feels authentic and effective.
A Safe Space: Above all, I create a supportive and respectful environment where clients feel understood. Your thoughts, feelings, and experiences will be acknowledged without judgment. Here, you are free to express yourself openly, knowing that you’re in a safe and supportive space.
Whether you're battling anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, or just need someone to talk to, I am here to listen, understand, and join you as you do this incredibly meaningful work.
